I am a Reference Librarian at Lane Community College in Eugene, Oregon.  At Lane, I create and lead instructional library sessions for writing and other courses, develop the collection in health professions and some social sciences, and answer general questions at the reference desk and virtually.

I'm also volunteering at the University of Oregon Special Collections and Archives, where I am organizing and creating a finding aid for the papers of Hans Linde, a prominent Oregon jurist.

My background includes a doctorate in political science, focused on quantitative studies of international conflict. I also have taught a variety of undergraduate social science courses at the University of California San Diego. I am a fiction reviewer and an advocate for open source and open access solutions (as well as a three-day Jeopardy! champion).

My full cv is available here, and you can see examples of my work on this Portfolio page.

Hot off the presses - Collection Development Using the Collection Mapping Technique
This is a concise, hands-on guide to creating a collection that everyone will love, from patrons to administrators to trustees.  Written by David Loertscher and Laura Wimberley, it includes practical advice on everything from how to deal with vendors to how to weed judiciously.  A great introduction, especially for solo librarians.
