Laura Wimberley, PhD, MLIS
Librarian, Instructor, Information Specialist
I'm a Documents Librarian in the Knight Library at the University of Oregon in Eugene. At UO, I help researchers find government information, as well as developing web resources and instructional sessions.
I just finished a year as a Reference Librarian at Lane Community College (also in Eugene, Oregon). At Lane, I created research guides, screencasts, and other projects, developed the collection in social sciences and health professions, and answered general questions at the reference desk and virtually.
My background includes a stint as a volunteer in the University of Oregon Special Collections and Archives and an internship in the library of San Diego State University. In addition to my MLIS from San Jose State, I hold a doctorate in political science, focused on quantitative studies of international conflict, and have taught a variety of undergraduate social science courses at the University of California San Diego. I am a fiction reviewer and an advocate for open source and open access solutions (as well as a three-day Jeopardy! champion).
